Songs of My Life

Recently, I've been thinking about how much certain songs really speak to me and my circumstances in life. Of course, "It is Well" has become a grounding reminder of God's grace in the midst of any situation in my life.

This past weekend, I attended WinterJam (AMAZING show!) and afterwards, I bought Kutless' CD, "It is Well." I bought it because I loved their rendition of my favorite hymn, and because it was only $5! Score!

However, God had a different song in mind that would speak to the core of my being. So, I've decided to start a new series of blogs based on different songs that speak to my heart.

Today's song is "I'm Still Yours" by Kutless. Here are the lyrics:

If you washed away my vanity
If you took away my words
If all my world was swept away
Would You be enough for me?
Would my beating heart still sing?

If I lost it all
Would my hands stay lifted
To the God who gives and takes away
If you take it all
This life You’ve given
Still my heart will sing to You

When my life is not what I expected
The plans I made have failed
When there’s nothing left to steal me away
Will You be enough for me?
Will my broken heart still sing?

Even if You take it all away
You’ll never let me go
Take it all away
But I still know… That I’m Yours
I’m still Yours
Oh, I’m Yours
I’m still Yours
I’m still Yours

Over the last few days, and in light of everything that's happened over the last few months, I feel like God is reminding me that He is enough.

...that even if I lost everything else, He is still there.

...that no matter the circumstances, God is still God. His character does not change.

...that throughout all the mountains, valleys, and anything in between - I'm still Yours, God.

...that even if God never blessed me with anything else in this life, He has still sent His Son to die for my sins, so that I can have eternal life. ETERNAL LIFE. (what else could I possibly need?)

What are some of your favorite songs? Which one has God used the most to speak truth into your life?
